The July episode of Qore’s got action, adventure, motion, and Osaka!

First, the action of Killzone 3. The game’s only in a pre-Alpha state and already looks fantastic! Veronica Belmont spoke with Guerrilla Games’ managing director and co-founder Hermen Hulst, and senior producer Steven ter Heide, about how they’ll raise the bar for the sequel. You’ll definitely want to see how the jetpacks look in full HD.

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom is a unique-looking action/adventure from the creative minds at Game Republic, the Japanese developer of Genji and Folklore. The developers sought inspiration from Czech and Russian anime, and blended aspects of many diverse cultures from around the globe to create a fantastic yet familiar world where teamwork is key.

With the PlayStation Move hitting stores in just a few months, Veronica got some quality time with its creator Dr. Richard Marks for an in-depth look at how the technology works. Dr. Marks also shows off some cool tech demos that will further illustrate how this will create new opportunities for innovative game play.

We also kick off a new feature this month exploring various locales around the world from a gamer’s perspective. We begin with Osaka, Japan – home to Capcom – to experience the modern urban vibe full of some surprising culinary traditions. Inspired by the unusual consumer package design found in Japan, the Qore team’s produced a hilarious interactive feature that allows you to create (and save) your own Osaka-inspired PlayStation 3 cover designs.

Audrey Cleo previews the newest Blu-ray movie releases, along with this month’s spotlight on “American” films in celebration of last weekend’s Independence Day.

All purchasers also receive a PS3 Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom theme.

Look for Episode 26 on the PlayStation Store tomorrow.

As of March 2010, there were over 25,000 games available to download in Apple’s App Store for the iPod Touch and iPhone. Of course, most of these games aren’t exactly world-class games. However, a few of them are top notch and will provide you with hours upon hours of gaming fun. Here are some of the most addictive games for the iPod Touch.

1. SimCity

The iPod Touch version of this game is packed with a ridiculous amount of detail and quality. Build your town from the ground up, and watch it grow into a technological metropolis. Of course, this doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, extensive planning, and quite a bit of ingenuity. The fun never seems to run out with this game by EA. It costs $4.99.

2. Wolfenstein 3D

The classic first person shooter is available for only $1.99 on your iPod Touch. Although the graphics aren’t as good as the some of the other games on the iPod Touch, this one wins major points for its nostalgia factor. Defend the Allied forces from the evil Nazis.

3. Words With Friends

If you get fired up by a competitive game of wits with your friends, then you won’t be able to stop playing this game. Word With Friends is a Scrabble game that you can either play against a random opponent or against your friends who also have an iPhone or iPod Touch. This Scrabble game is unique because a single game may take days or even weeks. Simply make you move whenever you have time, and you’ll be notified when your opponent has made his move. The full ad-supported version is free, but you can upgrade to the paid version with no ads for $2.99 if you wish.

4. Oregon Trail

The classic game from the 70’s has been fully updated with beautiful graphics and has been brought to the iPod Touch. You must make your way from St. Louis to Oregon while trying to keep your crew from dying of dysentery. Hunt for your food, trade with other travelers, and guide your wagon down the river. It can be found in the App Store for $4.99.

5. Deer Hunter 3D

If you’re a fan of arcade games like Big Buck Hunter, then you’ll love this game. The graphics are superb, and the controls are first-class. You can track deer and game by tracking their footprints, and you can either get in close for the kill or use your scope for a far away shot. It’s available for $5.99.

6. TapDefense

TapDefense is a game in the “tower defense” genre. In these games, you must defend your base against a constant procession of enemies by constructing towers in strategic locations. Your towers will shoot the enemies with arrows, bombs, or ice in an effort to slow them down or kill them. There are a slew of tower defense games, but TapDefense is not only one of the best – it’s also completely free.

It brought online bookstores to people. Now Amazon is bringing ebooks to readers and the device to read them with too. We’re stepping into the future of reading as more people catch on to reading ebooks. Without doubt, the Kindle ebook reader has done wonders in paving the way and now we have the Kindle 2, bigger, faster and more powerful. Fasten your seatbelts! With the supply chain of books becoming increasingly e-based, paper-filled books were always going to turn into e books.

Now that we have just the perfect all-in-one device to procure, read and bring with you all the books you want anywhere you go and anytime you want, that’s hard to resist. Oprah loves her electronic book reader, so too will many of us love ours. There are several brands of electronic book readers to choose from in the market. Having that said, don’t bother to look beyond the top of the pack as many of the rest are still in beta.

By far the two most proven brands are the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS. Both have generated running series and are already into their latter models. The consensus though, is Amazon with its Kindle 2 is fast drawing away from competition with Sony’s flagship PRS – 700 a distant second. The Kindle ebook reader is in great demand.

Availability of stock at Amazon is at best intermittent. Waiting time fluctuates and they are not accepting overseas orders although some 3rd-party distributers and retailers do ship abroad with due shipping charges and mark-up. They are also sporadically spotted on eBay and when they are, are surely to be accompanied by price premium. Electronic book readers are a boon not only to people, they are environmentally friendly too. Imagine the number of trees a top brand like Kindle can be credited with saving from the paper mill for books let alone the total effect of all e book reader brands combined.

Through the Whispersync, the 15 million or so iPhones and iPod Touches are recently equipped to read Amazon e-titles making them green too overnight. Kindle ebooks save money too. Savvy readers would realize that Amazon subsidizes its Kindle book sales and provides free sampling of e-books so you are never mistaken about buying a book. That may be string attached to sell its electronic book reader but the bottom line makes sense at the end of the day. Even for occasional readers, this should be a no-brainer. That’s on top of all the other good stuff it brings.
